Trauma Counselling

Finding Safety Together

Trauma can rewire how your nervous system perceives safety. Long after an event ends, you may still find yourself trapped in survival mode, dealing with chronic alertness when your nervous system is in a fight or flight mode, or quite the opposite, feeling dissociated, emotionally numb and disconnected from people and the world around you.

You may be experiencing flashbacks, having nightmares; struggling in relationships, work, and everyday functioning. Your window of tolerance is narrow and it can feel like anything is a trigger. Or you may be doing OK on the outside, but you know deep inside that something does not feel right.

Whether caused by a single incident or prolonged exposure, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, looks different for everyone. If you feel like you are watching life happen outside of you or wonder why you cannot just move on, please know that your response is valid. Therapy provides the space to help your body and mind understand that the danger has passed.

Trauma Therapy Can Help

The aim of trauma therapy is to help you live a full and fulfilling life.

Trauma therapy is different from regular counselling and is designed to be safe for people with PTSD and Complex PTSD. This is why it is important to seek a therapist who is not only trauma-informed but is specifically trained to work with trauma. I had the privilege and honour to train with Babette Rothschild in Somatic Trauma Therapy.

You don’t have to keep living your life in survival mode. Let’s help your mind and body understand that the danger has passed.

My Qualifications

As a fully trained and qualified Gestalt counsellor, I had the privilege and honour to be trained by Babette Rothschild in Somatic Trauma Therapy, and subsequently received specialist advanced training in Fertility Counselling with the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA). I currently facilitate a support group with Fertility Alliance for people struggling to conceive their first child.

Previously working as a counsellor for the NHS, where I gained experience helping a diverse range of clients navigate their emotional difficulties, I now provide counselling at the Camden Council Parent and Carer Counselling Service for parents with school-age children.

As well as attending to my private clients, I also work at University College London providing pastoral care and support for students experiencing mental health problems and study difficulties
